Does Shopify require barcodes?
Shopify has a barcode field in product settings but doesn't require it. You can add products and take orders without barcodes. Where they matter: syncing inventory to Google Shopping (requires GTIN), connecting your product catalog to Amazon or eBay (both require GTINs), and retail distribution.
Adding barcodes to Shopify products
When you buy codes from UPCBay, you receive the numeric code plus image files. In Shopify, go to Products, open a product, and enter the code in the Barcode field. For variants, each variant has its own barcode field. That's it — no additional configuration needed.
